Gregory L. Torres
Mr. Torres is a Director, Shareholder and Vice President at Knapp, Petersen & Clarke. Mr. Torres handles a broad range of business and civil litigation matters involving complex legal and factual issues.
Clients from a wide variety of industries regularly rely on Mr. Torres’ representation in high stakes litigation, including disputes related to commercial transactions, real estate, entertainment, professional liability, construction, insurance coverage and bad faith, bankruptcy, and employment (including the defense of wage and hour class action lawsuits). Mr. Torres has extensive trial experience, but is also skilled at negotiating favorable out-of-court resolutions and is known to be creative in developing exit strategies when the facts or law are not favorable to his clients.
In addition to his vast litigation experience, Mr. Torres is also well-versed and regularly consulted on all types of business transactions, from the organization and formation of business entities to the drafting of business and real estate purchase and sale agreements in sophisticated transactions. As a member of KPC Legal Audit, Mr. Torres is involved in the audit of legal billings for clients concerned with the reasonableness of attorneys’ fees, and he has audited well over a thousand legal invoices throughout his career.
Mr. Torres was admitted to the State Bar of California and the United States District Court, Central District, in 2002. He graduated from Southwestern University School of Law and was acknowledged for significant accomplishments in academics, moot court, and law review. He acted as Southwestern’s Law Review Special Projects Associate Editor. His article “Aberdeen at Ormond Beach v. Volusia County: Ignoring Reality?” was published in the Southwestern Law Review and nominated for the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement. He possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

It’s not all work and no play for Mr. Torres. He is an avid alpine skier. Most weekends during the winter, he can be found skiing untracked powder somewhere in North America.
