Carlos Cohen-Leon
Mr. Cohen is an associate at the firm. A Texas native, Mr. Cohen grew up in Mexico City, making him fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Mr. Cohen obtained his first professional degree in Law, a Bachelor of Laws, at the Universidad del Valle de Mexico, graduating with honors. During his time in Mexico as an active attorney, Mr. Cohen specialized in administrative, civil, and constitutional litigation as well as administrative and government compliance in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Cohen was the youngest ever deputy director of legal and internal affairs in state court and the youngest deputy director of the secretary general in federal court. Mr. Cohen was also part of the LXII and LXIII Legislatures with Senator Javier Lozano of the National Action Party (PAN) as a legal analyst and parliamentary advisor. In the private sector, Mr. Cohen worked with Solorzano Carvajal Gonzalez y Perez-Correa, SC (SOLCARGO), a top tier national firm, in the administrative and compliance sectors where he closely worked with and advised international oil, gas, and electricity companies on setting up operations in Mexico through the newly enacted energy sector law reforms.
In 2016, Mr. Cohen joined a regional law firm in San Antonio, TX where he had the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters in the agribusiness sector and represented operations throughout the united states.
In 2018, Mr. Cohen began his Juris Doctor studies at Melbourne Law School in Melbourne, Australia. During his three years in Australia, Mr. Cohen was able to work for top global law firms Minter Ellison and Corrs Chambers Westgarth in their corporate and transactional departments. Mr. Cohen graduated in 2020 and returned to California. Since his return, Mr. Cohen worked with the Financial Investment National Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) Alternate Dispute Resolution department.
Mr. Cohen passed the California Bar Examination in February 2022 and was admitted in March 2023 before joining Knapp Petersen & Clarke’s Insurance Defense department as a litigation associate attorney.
Outside of work, Mr. Cohen is a published author and is closely involved with organizations which support and promote United States Armed Forces Veterans and civil and constitutional liberties.
